Maxine Marie Bunten Strouts

A funeral for Maxine Marie Bunten Strouts, a Southeast Portland resident, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Zeller Chapel of the Roses. The rosary will be said at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel.

Mrs. Strouts died of a heart attack Monday in a Portland hospital. She was 79.

She was born May 14, 1913, in Detroit, Ore. Her maiden name was Bunten. She moved to Portland as a teenager and was a graduate of Immaculata High School. She married Harry Strouts on Aug. 26, 1935.

Mrs. Strouts and her husband owned and operated the Lamplighters Grill on Southeast Belmont Street and 28th Avenue from the 1940s until the 1960s. She was known for her homemade pies. Her husband died in 1985.

Survivors include her son, Merle, and her daughters, Judy Garrett and Gail King, all of Portland; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Private interment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum.
