Revolutionary War
Captain Zachariah Bullock fought valiantly in the revolutionary war between the years 1776 and 1782 serving in multiple regiments: Spartan Regiment (1776-1777), 2nd Spartan Regiment (1777-1778), 1st Spartan Regiment (1778-1780), Kershaw Regiment (1782). Know privates under his command were: Alexander Chesney, Daniel Covenhover, Daniel Crownover, John Hodge, Jr., John Lang, James Moseley. Battles Captain Bullock engaged in were: Seneca Town SC (Aug. 1, 1776), Cherokee Towns SC (Aug. 8-11, 1776), Tamassee SC (Aug. 12, 1776), Coweecho River NC (Sep. 19, 1776), and Stono Ferry SC (Jun. 20, 1779)

Captain Bullock moved to South Carolina from Granville County NC sometime before 1766, as by that date he is found living on property in Pacolet, SC (property discovered and named after an earlier french pioneer, Monsieur Pacolet). He moved to South Carolina with several of his siblings: John and Mary (Mitchell) Bullock, John and Agnes (Bullock) Nuchols, and Agnes (Bullock) Williams. His brother-in-law, John Nuchols, was captured and murdered by the British during the revolutionary war for supporting and promoting Whig sympathies. Captain Bullock explored and surveyed much of the area around Union county, SC. He also took out many land patents for much of his property (patented under the name of Tyron County, NC). It is possible he married as there was a marriage between Zachariah S. Bullock and Frances Edrington around this time in Ninety-Six and Abbeville District, however, if he did marry he had no children as upon his death he leaves his estate to his siblings, nieces, and nephews.
