MANSFIELD -- Geraldine Barnes, 85, gracefully passed away on May 15, 2015 at her childhood home in Mansfield, with her daughters by her side.
Service: 2 p.m., Saturday at Blessing Funeral Home, Mansfield. Visitation: noon to 2 Saturday before the service.
Gerry was born June 1, 1929, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Frankie and Daniel Garretson. She enjoyed life and surrounding herself with family and friends. Growing up in Mansfield, she attended Beatty Secondary School, Mansfield High School and obtained her Cosmetology License.
She was the owner of Gerry's Beauty Shop on Main Street in downtown Mansfield from 1972 to 1995.
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, James Barnes, daughter, Nancy Gwynn Hardy and grandson, Dayle Weston Hardy.
Survivors: She leaves behind her sister, Donna True Martin of Rosebush, Mich.; daughters, Janice Lynn Pope and Vanesa Wryn Chollar (George); granddaughters, Alicia Pope Smock (Curtis), Summer Chollar Webb (Wes), Piper Chollar McCraw (Mark) and Leslie Hardy Maynard (Brian) and Ashlee Cate Hardy: 12 great-grandkids, Lindsey, Garrett, Gunnar, Aiden, Cora, Caitlyn, Colby, Madison, Sierra, Monty, Quinn and Elliott; one great-great-grandson, Logan; numerous nieces and nephews; and life long friends, Charlotte Elrod and Sheridan Cook.
