This is confirmed by DNA. This John Andrews is the son of Allen Thweatt Andrews and Martha Jane Oslin. My DNA matched with a descendant of John Andrews' sister, Virginia Thweatt Andrews Hawthorne. The Andrews name is sometimes spelled Andruss or Andruse. Please feel free to email me if you have questions.

John was married to Katherine Elliott on May 18 1892 in Springfield, IL. They went on to have 5 children together. May Anna Andrews, Lee John Andrews (Andruss), Bessie Marie Andrews, Guy Andrews, and Harry Andrews. The family is found living in various counties in Illinois and Springfield, MO . Katherine remarried in 1905 to Franklin J Brockman. I cannot find any death certificate or burial information on him, nor can I find any trace of him in records after the 1900 census. This leads me to believe that he passed away sometime between 1900-1905.

My great-grandmother used to tell stories about this side of the family. Apparently she made the trip with her Father several times back to Virginia to see his family. She named her own daughter Virginia, after her Aunt Virginia Thweatt Andrews Hawthorne.
