Cornelius was the second son of Cornelius S. Plett and his wife, Helena Rempel, was a sister to Mrs. Cornelius F. Friesen. The Pletts settled in Blumenhof, Manitoba in 1875, and a few years before the village disbanded in 1889, they took over C.S. Plett's farm in N.E. 24, where the foundation rocks of their buildings can still be seen. Cornelius was both an active community man and church leader. He served as "Schulz" for Blumenhof for a time and, after 1891, as a preacher. In 1904 Cornelius retired from farming to spend more time in the ministry. Four years later he sold his farm and moved to Friedensfeld, and, in 1916, he moved to Satanta, Kansas, where he lived until his death. Many of his descendants continue to live in the Blumenort, Manitoba area.
