Esther E. Ellis, age 92, of De Soto, Kan., passed away February 6, 2008, at Olathe Medical Center. Burial Saturday, February 23, at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, De Soto, Kan. Esther was born April 6, 1915, in Gardner, Kan., and was a lifetime De Soto, Kan., resident. She was a member of De Soto United Methodist Church and belonged to the De Soto Chapter Order of the Eastern Star since 1946, Worthy Matron 1949-1950, District Aide 1950-1951. She worked several years at Kobler's Drug Store in De Soto and was a postal clerk at the De Soto Post Office from 1965 until retirement in 1977. She served on the Board of Directors at Gardner Community Medical Center for 25 years, secretary for 15 years. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Virgil E. Ellis, and her parents Clarence B. Alvin and Harriet Josesa Osborne Hale. Survivors include son Gary Ellis of Eudora, Kan.; granddaughters Susan Jo Ellis Pittman of Orange Park, Fla., Kimberly Ann Ellis Davis of Eudora, Kan.; grandsons Rodney Eugene Ellis of Donaldonville, Ga., Michael Wayne Nuffer of Lawrence, Kan.; great grandsons William Guy Pittman Jr., Johnathan Lee Pittman, Austin Dean Ellis, Cade Alexander Davis and great granddaughters Kristy Esther Pittman, Lindsay Deann Ellis, Casey Godwin Wacaser; great great granddaughter Riley Ellis Pittman; goddaughter Terry Lee Johnston of De Soto, Kan., and Paula Tripkos Buckley of Colorado Springs, Colo.
