John Housan "Jack" Fenner., 80 passed away Sunday June 24, 2007 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Halifax Co. on November 1, 1926 to the late John Housan and Elizabeth Heyward Fenner. Mr. Fenner was graduated from Rocky Mount High School in 1944, Woodberry Forest School in 1945; UNC Chapel Hill in 1951. After serving several years in the U.S. Army he became a member of Zeta Psi Fraternity at UNC-CH. Jack received an LLB degree from Loyola University School of Law May 28, 1972 in New Orleans, LA. Jack passed Louisiana Bar Sept. 21, 1972 and North Carolina Bar Aug. 22, 1982 and practiced law in Rocky Mount for 26 years. Over the years he was president in the local Jaycees and, coordinated a special visit by Paul Harvey. Jack also served as President of the local Carolina Cotillion Club organizing the annual June German Dance. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, long time member of Benvenue Country Clb, and president of Pine Knolls Townes Home Association, member of Rocky Mount Civitan Club serving as president 1986 "1987 and Bulletin Editor 1984" 1986.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 27 years B. J. Stidfole Fulcher Fenner of the home; two sons, John Housan Fenner III and wife, Cathy of Baton Rouge, LA, Lee Fulcher, Jr. and wife, Julia of Wilson; one daughter, Jackie Hoots of Nashville, NC; one sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Herbert Manning of Kinston; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jeanne Fenner of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren, Jessica and Rachel Fenner of Baton Rouge, LA, Ian and Kathleen Hoots of Nashville, NC, Will, Zach, and Lee Fulcher III of Wilson. Jack is also survived by his loving dog Howzer.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Dr. Carleton Mckita officiating. A visitation for family and friends will follow the service and other times at the home.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to: Hospice of Nash General, 2460 Curtis Ellis Dr., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 or Edgecombe- Nash Humane Society, PO Box 1783, Rocky Mount, NC 27802.
