Charles Franklin "Frank" Higdon, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 in Franklin. He was a longtime resident of Franklin. He was born on February 12, 1918 in Grayson County, Kentucky to Joseph Edward and Carrie Belle (Smith) Higdon. He married Melinda "Linnie" Ann Higdon on September 12, 1942. She preceded him in passing on April 10, 2000.
Surviving children include Joan Inabnitt of Whiteland; Charles "Charlie" Higdon of Greeneville, Tennessee; Brenda Bowden of Franklin; Mary McQuilling of Greenwood; Faye Inabnitt of Greenwood; Joe Higdon and Carl Higdon, both of Franklin; Dennis Higdon of Nineveh; Elisa Walter of Edinburgh; and Kim Hukill of Franklin, and Joyce West of Aurora, Illinois; twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild; one sister, Nora Aleen Higdon of Cecilia,Kentukcy and one brother Dewey Higdon of Boggstown. He was preceded in passing by brothers and sisters, Willard, Lois, Wayne, Virgil, Robert, Pearl and George; grandson, Matthew Higdon and great grandchildren, Alisha Starr Inabnitt and James Patrick Braughton.
He attended school in Kentucky. He was a civilian guard at Camp Atterbury many years ago. He was employed by Stokely Van Camp in Greenwood for thirty-five years. He worked part-time at Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church. He was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin. Frank helped build the Chapel in the Meadow at Camp Atterbury which he truly enjoyed.
Services were entrusted to Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home of Franklin, Indiana.
