Born November 4, 1958 at Hinton he was the son of the late James Nelson and Patsy Adkins Gill. A member of Central Baptist Church where he loved to attend church as long as his health permitted. He worked as a well driller for Willey Brothers and a former employee of Unique Balance Plastics Processing Plant and a former member of Greenbrier Valley Rural Volunteer Fire Dept. Roy enjoyed reading his bible, hunting, fishing, outdoors but most of all he loved supporting his children and grandchildren in sports.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Pembroke and Rachel Gill, maternal grandparents, Burman and Emma Adkins; siblings, Carolyn Adkins, Delsie Brown, Penny Boone, Ricky Adkins and David Gill; son-in-law, Alec Thornsbury.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Ruth Adkins; children, Sommer Graham and husband Kevin, Becky Herold and husband Josh, Kristi Burton and husband Eric and Roy Adkins and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Stacie, K.J., Cody, Bailey, Alexis, Hunter, Colten, Addison, Aubrey and Gaven; great grandchildren, Kadence, Christian and Stella; special cousin, Brenda Moats and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday December 27, 2022 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Monday December 26, 2022 at the funeral parlors.
