He retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service. Joe went on to have a career as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, retiring after many years of service. Joe was a faithful member of Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Joe is survived by his two children; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Fred Guldberg officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1355 Jonestown Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
