Daughter of Raymond Daniel and Alice Brown Amis. She attended public school in McDonough and was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women with a degree in business administration. She worked for many years at Georgia College, and she retired from Fowler Flemister Concrete, Inc. of Milledgeville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville. She was a former longtime member of Nancy Hart Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the Milledgeville Town Committee of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Joseph Benjamin Duke, Jr.; infant son, Raymond DeWitt Duke; and sister, Claire Amis Strawn*. Surviving are her son, Joseph B Duke, Ill and his wife, Tricia of Westminster, MD; daughters, Claire Duke Garrett and her husband, Larry of Milledgeville, and Nancy Duke Mason and her husband, Harold of Milledgeville; six grandchildren, Ben Duke and wife, Jobi, Brandon Duke and wife, Chrissy, Raleigh Garrett and wife, Anna Lynn, Lindsey G Harrison and husband, Josh, Lila Mitchell and fiancé, Raphael Jimenez, and Clay Mitchell; and eight great-grandchildren, Kai Duke, Cole Duke, Raelyn Duke, Brenn Duke, Knox Duke, Duke Harrison, Callie Garrett, and Nolley Harrison.
