Alex started a portrait studio and became the photographer for EAJC, taking the yearbook photographs. He joined the Air Force and was stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. He helped develop film for the U2 spy planes.
In 1969, he lived in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. His daughter, Mary Jane, was born during that time. From 1979-1992, Alex owned a TV repair shop in Safford. He also married Marie Anderson.
Alex was active in the American Legion, where he served for more than 30 years. He was past commander of the American Legion and the Gila Valley Honor Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, and daughter Mary Jane.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at the American Legion in Safford. Interment followed at Safford Union Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Morris Safford Funeral Home.
