Cleo was preceded in death by her mother Ora Brady McCoy, father William Warfe, son William Franklin (Johnny) Strader II, of Greensboro, three sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her loving husband, best friend and companion of 76 years, Frank Strader, of the home and son, Steve Strader (Virgie) of Boca Raton, Florida, seven grandchildren (Jason (Kelly), of Trinity, Kristin, of Goldsboro, Jessica (Casey), of Greensboro, Jonathan (Christian), of Charleston, Stephanie (Danny), of Parkland, Florida, Christina (Chelsey), of Denver, Colorado, and Jenn (Craig) of Nashville, Tennessee), seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Cleo met and fell in love with her husband, Frank, while in her teens. She patiently waited for his return from service in the US Army while he was stationed in Italy during WWII. After three years, Frank returned to the US, they became married, had two children, and enjoyed a relationship replete with love, respect, and deep admiration for one another.
Cleo enjoyed a long career with Sears Roebuck and Co. where she retired after 34 years of service. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, her daily Coors beer, spending time with family, and vacationing with their friends. She was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
A family and friend memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden. Her ashes will be interred at a later date at Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pleasant Garden Fire Department. Checks should be made payable to: Pleasant Garden Fire Department, 4814 Pleasant Garden Rd, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313.
