Peggy Lea Bowman, 69, of Redfield, joined God's Kingdom on December 17, 2022, after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer.

Born in Fairfax, Missouri, on September 23, 1953, the daughter of Geraldine Reva Allen and William Keith Smith, she grew up in Linden, Iowa, and St. Joseph, Missouri, before moving to Iowa and graduating from Adel-DeSoto High School in 1971.

Peg gave birth to Amber Diane in 1977 and Trevor James in 1979. In 1983, she married Doug Baker and moved to Redfield, Iowa. She was also Step-Mother to Scot Michael Baker, from Doug's first marriage.

It should be noted that she worked for Dr. Anthony Pakiam in her 20's and took with her countless life lessons that he and his wife, Jen, shared with her. Later she worked for the Dallas County Attorney, in Redfield and Adel, for many years and eventually worked in the Attorney General's Office in Des Moines, as an Administrative Assistant for the Prosecuting Attorney's Training Council where she retired in December 2017. She enjoyed meeting all of the county attorneys and attending the annual training conference every June in Arnold's Park, Iowa, and staying at the Fillenwarth Resort.

In 2009, after ten years of courtship, she married Darrell Morris Bowman. They made their home in Redfield in their beloved 1915 Craftsman house. The two of them traveled together, worked on home improvements and their rental homes. It was a team effort that continued throughout their relationship. They also enjoyed spending time with friends and family and attending Iowa State sporting events.

Peg had an uncanny ability to make friends wherever she went. She became friends with her hair stylist, Jen, her nail stylist, Dede, her Doctor, Nellie, the owner of her favorite boutique, Serena, and so many more. She enjoyed gardening, working on her doll house, making Pysanki eggs, camping, cooking, the Kansas City Chiefs, and all of her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, most recently her dear puppy Nellie B. She hosted family Christmas every year on Christmas Day and loved to sit outside during the warmer months.

She was a member of the Redfield Christian Church and it was there that she grew her faith in Jesus Christ. Her faith was very important to her and she liked to talk about scriptures with family and friends. Earlier in her life, she was also a member of the Redfield EMT unit, taught Sunday School at the Redfield Methodist Church, and was a member of the Redfield Jaycees.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Charlie Ellis.

Surviving are her husband Darrell Bowman of Redfield; children Amber Baker of Redfield and Trevor Baker of Redfield; sister Pam Ellis of Redfield; brother Pat Hale of Craig, Missouri; nieces Laurie (Larry Jo) Allsup of Menlo, Stacey (Brian) Shannon of Redfield, and Shelly Ellis (Doug) of Fontanelle' and many great nieces and nephew and grandpets.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mission Cancer + Blood of Des Moines and Mercy One in Des Moines for their time, kindness, candor, and expertise in helping our mother, wife and aunt with the most challenging journey of her life.

Memorials maybe directed to the Redfield Christian Church or Cavalier Rescue Midwest.
