Mary Jane White was born in Brant County, Ontario, Canada to Irish parents, James V. White and his wife, Mary Ann LeGear White and was the first of four children. A beautiful woman, she married William Heaslip and, together, they had six children - three sons and three daughters. They lived both in Canada and in Michigan, before retiring to Clearwater, Florida, USA where she died in 1951. Mary Heaslip was a sweet, giving woman.
The Heaslip family were very involved with their church, first as Salvationists and then Methodists. They had a cottage at Seeley's Bay, Ontario, and the family, including all the grandchildren, often gathered there in the summer.
