Christine M. Beard, 90, of Independence, MO passed away May 27, 2021. Visitation will be 9am, followed by funeral services at 10am, Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of your choice.
Christine was born July 19, 1930 to Leonard and Margarete DeHoog in Santa Ana, CA. She graduated from Bell Flower Christian High School in 1948. She was married to Verlin Davis for 17 years, and to this union, three children were born: Linda Leonard, Teresa Shannon and Rick Davis. In 1969, she married Marion Beard and was married to him until his death in 2009.
She was an avid sports fan and player, but golf was her game. In her younger years, she was a softball pitcher and 1st baseman. She would later enjoy playing pool with Marion, where they would travel to many different places for pool tournaments. She was a member of Blue Springs Country Club and Country Meadows Baptist Church for many years.
Preceding Christine in death are her parents; brothers Lane and Ted DeHoog, and sister Helen Harter; husband Marion; and daughter Linda Leonard. Survivors include her sister Maggie Buma; brother Joe DeHoog; children Teresa Shannon and husband CJ; Rick Davis and wife Claudia; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
