Sometime on Friday, November 10, 1933 in Edcouch, Texas, a beautiful daughter was born to the loving parents of Susana Lopez Cano and Pablo Garcia Lopez. When Dora was only six years old her mother passed away at the tender age of twenty-seven leaving her widowed father to raise her and her six siblings who instilled in them the values of family, hard work, and the Catholic faith.
Dora was a loving, devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt dedicating her life to raising two daughters while running the household where she was the CEO and CFO of her home, but the most revered title was Mom.
Once Dora was confident her girls were growing into strong and independent women, she was ready to join the workforce in what she enjoyed most, customer service. She did her best work greeting people and striking up small talk with anyone and everybody. No one could miss her beautiful smile; bubbly personality and she never met a stranger.
Dora was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Alphonsus for 56 years. She was a proud grandmother to three girls who was actively involved in their lives. She attended all their school events, celebrated their accomplishments and milestones. She also enjoyed family social events and gatherings.
Dora was survived by her husband, Cruz Alanis, daughters, Helen Olivares and Lisa Alanis (Jesse Trevino), sisters Magdalena Castaneda (Rodolfo † ) and Mary Lopez, brother, Domingo Lopez, Jr. (Minerva), sister-in-laws, Ester Lopez, Mary Ellen Lopez, granddaughters, Alyssa Olivares, Leila Bustos and Leilani Olivares and various nephews and nieces.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Susana Cano and Pablo Lopez; brothers, Feliberto Lopez, Daniel Lopez (Maria † ), Roberto Lopez, and sister, Maria Minerva Lopez.
The visitation and rosary service was held on Thursday, December 27, 2022. The funeral mass and committal service was held on Friday, December 28, 2022. The interment was at the Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas next to her father. Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral services.
