WELLSVILLE Donald Ray Winchester, 75, died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at his residence. He was the husband of Anita B. (Burckle) Winchester. Born March 15, 1932, in Fordsville, Ky., he was the son of the late Homer O. Winchester and the late Kathryn (Riaden) Winchester-Miller. Mr. Winchester worked as a motorcycle policeman in Jefferson County, Ky., then he drove for the Mason and Dixon trucking line. Finally he was a corrections officer for the York County Prisons before retiring. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was a Mason with the Morgantown, Ind. Lodge No. 358, and was a member of the Shiloh American Legion Post # 791, and was a member of Longstown Methodist Church. He lived his live a friend to everyone, always happy and upbeat, a great example of how you should live. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter April N. Godfrey and her husband Robert of Palmetto, Fla.; a son, Jeffrey B. Winchester and his wife Kelly of Harrisburg; a son, Stanton A. Winchester and his girlfriend Lori Krug of Adams County; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother George B. Winchester of Hartford, Ky.; and three sisters, Juliette Moore and her husband Leon of Albany, Ga., Carolyn Hatcher of Albany, Ga. and Norma Buck of Fordsville, Ky. Following cremation, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
