Denise "Nisey" Margaret Pearson (nee Jacobs) Died on January 25, 2008, after suffering a brain aneurysm while exercising. Her death was sudden, unexpected, and for her family and friends, it was hard to believe that her vibrant personality, acerbic wit, and Aussie accent, so distinct, could be stilled so quickly. Well loved by all who knew her, she will be missed and never forgotten.

Denise was born on June 14, 1952, in Collaroy, N.S.W., Australia, an area named for the ship "Collaroy" which ran aground on the town beach. It was refloated and later wrecked on the CA coast.
Denise attended grammar school at Dulwich Hill Primary; attended Narrabeen Girls High School; and earned her Diploma of Hotel and Restaurant Management at Sidney Technological College.
Like the Collaroy, Denise crashed upon the shores of California in the 1970s at the age of 25. San Francisco was the first stop on her epic 'round the world adventure, but like many before her, she fell in love with the City and never left. Although always a loyal Aussie, she made the Bay Area her home for over 30 years up until her death.
Upon her arrival, and penniless, Denise became a San Francisco street artist and somehow scraped enough money together to eventually buy her first American automobile - a used bread truck.
Denise eventually obtained her real estate license and worked in the California real estate industry for over twenty years, most recently working at Intero Real Estate in San Carlos, CA, at the time of her passing. During her career, she won numerous awards and other accolades. For the past eight years, she had always been ranked in the top 1% of REALTORS(r) nationwide. She had an impeccable reputation as the consummate professional and earned the respect of her peers.
What really set Denise apart were her personal traits of compassion, service, wicked sense of humor, and her somewhat "salty" tongue. Family and friends mattered most to Denise. During her life she developed enduring friendships too numerous to list in this memorial. She was blessed with a selfless and loving spirit, and if you were Denise's friend, she would bless you with her constant encouragement, undying loyalty and unconditional love. To many of us her friendship was like "comfort food" - warm, inviting and soothing to the soul.
Denise devoted herself to many charitable causes. She was a longtime coordinator for the Children's Miracle Network. As evidence of Denise's selflessness, we need only look to her last earthly gift - the donation of all of her major organs to five different recipients, one of whom we understand was only hours away from death. Denise truly gave that person the gift of life.
During her abbreviated life, she touched the lives of many, and now she has given life to several others. If any of these unidentified recipients were children, we are confident that Denise would be elated.
Denise is survived by her parents Keith and Flo Jacobs of Sidney, Australia; her brother Steve, and sister-in-law Pen; nephews, Ryan and Todd, all of Australia; her stepdaughter Pia McDougall, Pia's husband Jonathan, and granddaughter, Georgy; her stepson Don Vitalis; and many loving aunts and uncles. Denise reveled in her role as the doting grandmother to Georgy (who affectionately called Denise, "Mimi"). She was a special part of the Meredith Family (with whom she occasionally lived during her youthful years): her good friend Diane Meredith and her children, Tony, Michael, Danny and Kristi Haskins. Godmother to Kristi's daughter, Jessie Francis, she always played an integral part in the lives of all Diane's grandchildren. Finally, Denise loved her dogs Roxie and Stella with all of her heart. Denise made arrangements in her will ensuring that they would be provided for and would never be separated.
If Denise were here to speak with us, she would certainly remind us to love one another, to laugh everyday, to be patient and kind, to enjoy life, and with her wry sense of humor, she would also tell us not to exercise because "it will kill you."
A Celebration of Denise's life will be held on Friday, February 8, 2008, from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, at the Greek Orthodox Church Community Room, located at 900 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont, CA. 94002. Please no mourning attire. Aloha wear or other festive attire required. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Children's Miracle Network, (www.childrensmiraclenetwork.org), Rape Trauma Services (650.652.0598, ext.14), or to the animal charity of your choice.

"The songs of the waves and the hymns of the streams are scattered, and the voices of the throngs reduced to silence; And I can hear naught but the music of eternity in exact harmony with the spirit's desires. I am cloaked in full whiteness; I am in comfort; I am in peace." By Kahlil Gibran
