Heart Attack is Fatal to Clifford Kephart
Was Stricken Early Monday Morning at His Home Here.

Clifford Kephart, local business man, passed away Monday morning at his home on North Franklin street, a heart ailment causing his death. It appears that Mr. Kephart ate breakfast early and was about to take his car and hunting dogs for a hunting trip. As he was about to enter the car he was stricken.

Funeral arrangements cannot be completed until arrival of the son, Lawrence, in training at Camp Roberts, Calif. The son was reached by wire Monday and is on the way home, but the time of his arrival is uncertain. Friends may call the Gill funeral home for the day and hour of the service, which will be held at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert James Watson in charge. Burial will be made in Oakland cemetery.

Mr. Kephart, son of the late Elmer and Hattie Kephart, was born Feb. 21, 1896, at Guttenberg, Ia., received his education in the public and high school here, and on Nov. 8, 1916, was united in marriage with Miss Achsa Drew. All of their married life was spent in Manchester. For some time they were engaged in the shoe business here, and more recently he operated a pool room on South Franklin street.

Mr. Kephart had been in uncertain health, suffering from a heart ailment. During the past few years he appeared to be in reasonably good health and was about his place of business daily. He was a lover of the out of doors, and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his widow; the son, Lawrence; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Mulligan and Mrs. Geo. Heart, of this city; and a granddaughter, Nancy Jean of this city. One brother, John, and his parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Kephart was gifted with a kindly nature and happy disposition, and was happy when he could be enjoying the great out of doors. Because of his kindly nature, "Cliff," as he was affectionately known to our people generally made friends readily. These friends learned of his sudden passing Monday with genuine sorrow, and extend to the members of the family their sincere sympathy.
