13th Tenn Cav., Co. B∼Calvin was educated in the common schools of Virginia and fallowing his education engaged in farming. In 1859 he left Virginia and went to Tennessee where he enlisted in Company B 13th Tennessee Voluntary Calvary and served 9 months. {discharged 9/8/1865} He fallowed farming and about 1882 he moved to Texas and again farmed until about 1886 at which time he went to the Indian Territory and settled 16 miles from Ardmore, remaining there for 9 years.
In 1895 he went to Conner's Store, now Connerville, Indian Territory where he engaged in the cattle business. In 1900 he had the only hotel in the settlement.
CJ married Catherine South on Jan.3,1861 in Bluntville, Sullivan Co., Tennessee. CJ & Catherine had 11 children {3 died in infancy.
