The Parentage, Birth date and place of Isaac Howard were never determined exactly...even by his own family. Their research led them to believe he and a brother, Abraham, left from England together for Marblehead, Massachusetts about 1722. From there, Isaac traveled alone to Coventry, Rhode Island, and his movements within the state were traced thru property records.
Isaac Howard married twice:
1) Martha Rice of Coventry (now Warwick), RI, about 1732; and
2) Hephzibeth Darbee, a widow, April 7, 1770.
He and his first wife had seven children who survived. All were sons. The first six were born in Coventry (now Warwick), the last two in Scituate (now Foster):
1) John Howard (1732 or 1733 - after 1801);
2) Joseph Howard (1737 - Spring 1791);
3) Thomas Howard (1742 - 24 Jan 1837);
4) Isaac Howard (1744 - 1760);
5) Capt William Howard (Feb 1747 - 22 Jun 1813);
6) Christopher Howard (1749 - after 1779); and
7) Hon Daniel Howard (20 Jul 1752 - 14 Sept 1827).
The 1901 History records Isaac "was buried upon his own land in a burial ground a short distance to the southeast of his house. Here his two wives rest beside him, and here also have been buried about twenty-five other members of the Howard family." He was believed to be at least 75 years old. JT
