The Ellis Review-Headlight-Feb. 14, 1919
Anna Maria Armbriester (sic) was taken to her place of rest in St. Johns (sic) cemetery on the third of February, 1919. She was born as the sixth child of Charles and Elizabeth Kroeger on January 25, 1886, in Ellis county. She has been called by the Lord as His own in holy baptism in earliest childhood. On April 8, 1906, while confirmed by Rev. Doering, she witnessed a good confession before God and her congregation. April 7, 1910, she was united in marriage with Phil Armbriester. Their matrimony was blessed with five children One of them led the way into enternity (sic) to the parents who were to follow so soon. The saddest day in her life was on the 21st of July, 1918, when she had to see her husband being buried who had met with an accident a few days before, leaving her widowed with three children. But the Lord provided some friends and through utmost diligence she was able to support herself and her children. On the 14th day of December, 1918, she gave birth to a son and mother and chilid (sic) were blessed with health. On the 19th of January, however, she fell sick and on the 21st she had to leave her home for the hospital in Hays to undergo an operation. She received holy communion and witnessed hte (sic) baptism of her new-born child named after the father, Philip. Days of hope and anxiety passed until February 2nd, at 10 a. m. when she went to her long home. Besides four little orphans, whom good friends took care of, mourn her, as we think, the untimely death of her own old parents, the parents of her husband, who had shared with her joy and sorrow, three brothers and four sisters. The time of her pilgrimage has been 33 years and 7 days. May she rest in peace! We however, turn to Him who said: "I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." St. John 11:25.
