Ronald Milton Whitaker 12-17-1945 – 12-6-2022

Mr. Ronald Milton Whitaker, Chatham Co. Georgia entered into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 after a lengthy illness. Ronald was one of ten children born to the Late Emmitt Wayman Whitaker & the late Lurliene Chapman Whitaker of Sunnyside, Georgia. Ronald served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 – 1969 and was stationed at Randolph Air Force Base until his honorable discharge in 1969. During his time of service, he met and married the first love of his life, Bebe Lois Jackson Whitaker, in July of 1966. Ronald went on to pursue an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Gordon State College, a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University, and a Master's degree in Psychology from Georgia State University, with the help and support of his wife Bebe and their two daughters. He began his life long career with the Georgia Department of Corrections in 1974 where he retired as Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment from Augusta Medical Correctional Institute in 2007. Ronald was a member of Wesley United Methodist church, where he and his second wife of 40 years, Mary Lucinda "Cindy" Whitaker, served their Lord and Savior by helping with the homeless ministry, serving at the community food bank, and volunteering with a group to restore bicycles for children in need. Ronald was a dedicated brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his blended family with his whole heart. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs & Atlanta Falcons fan and loved nothing more than spending time with his large family.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Joseph, Delos, and James Whitaker, his sisters Eunice Faye Whitaker, Dianne Whitaker Maddox and Annette Whitaker Sledge, his first wife, Bebe Lois Jackson Whitaker, and his second wife, Mary Lucinda Whitaker.

Left to cherish his precious memory are his children, Lisa Michelle Whitaker Fuqua (Greg) of Barnesville, Georgia, Ronda Lois Whitaker Wells (Jimmy) of Athens, Alabama, Adam Weldon Reid Harrison (Marla) of Douglasville, Georgia, Ross Matthew Harrison (Heather) of Pooler, Georgia and Amy Elizabeth Whitaker and Brandey Morris of Augusta, Georgia. His brother Bobby Whitaker (Betty) of Griffin, Georgia, his sisters Betty Whitaker Frazier and Carolyn Whitaker Shifflett Wingo of Fayetteville, Georgia also survive. Grandchildren, Katelynn Bebe Fuqua Johnson (Dustin) of Clark Hill, South Carolina, Jarrod Michael Fuqua (Krista), Jacob Thomas Fuqua (Ashli) both of Pell City, Alabama, Rachael Lynn Wells Howard (Jeff) of Guyton, Georgia, Rebecca Lois Wells Wickstrom (Josh) of Rome, Georgia, Jenna Leigh Wells of Augusta, Georgia, Ashley Harrison McNair (Blake) of Villa Rica, Georgia, Autumn Michelle Harrison & Matthew "Fischer" Harrison of Pooler, Georgia, Evan & Elliott Creech of Augusta, Georgia. There are nine great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.



Arrangements for Mr. Whitaker are as follows,

The Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 North Belair Road, Evans, Georgia.

The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church with military honors. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or to Wesley United Methodist Church in Augusta, GA.
