Tara Michelle and Josey Lynn Wood, ages 11 and 10, of Camden, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 near Camden. Both girls were born in Oxford, the daughters of James "Lee" Wood Jr. and Tammy Betz. Tara was born Aug. 28, 1989, and Josey was born May 21, 1991. They were members of the Children's Choir at the Higher Heights Church of God in Camden, where both were students.
Survivors include a brother, Alexander Wayne Norvell of Celina; their mother, Tammy Betz of Trotwood; paternal grandparents, James Lee Sr. and Mary Wood of Camden, with whom they and their father resided; maternal grandparents, Boone and Gloria Messmear of Trotwood; many aunts, uncles and cousins. The sisters died along with their father, James "Lee" Wood Jr., in a drowning incident.
Visitations for Tara and Josey Wood and their father will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Higher Heights Church of God, 8111 U.S. 127, Camden. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at the church, with the Rev. Marvin Hocker officiating. R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, is in charge of arrangements.
