STEEVES --At his home 101 Court street, Salem, Wednesday, August 2, 1893, of softening of the brain, Aaron Steeves, aged 67 years. Mr. Steeves was born in Canada in 1826 and came from New Brunswick to Salem about seven years ago. He established the bakery on Court street which the sons managed when failing health overtook the old gentleman. The wife and four children survive. The latter are D. B. Steeves of Albina, C. W. and B. L. Steeves of Salem and Mrs. H. H. Lefogey of Summerside, Prince Edward's Island. Deceased was a member of the First Baptist church of this city, in which he took an active interest, when his health permitted. He was a man of many excellent traits of character, honest, kindly, a hard worker and in every respect an estimable citizen.
