Ahira Sanford was born to Cyrenus Sanford and Anner Hubbell. Ahira and his family came to Oregon in about 1869, presumably after the transcontinental railroad was completed.

Ahira Sanford married Amanda Hull on Oct. 9, 1831. To this union only one child is known, Stephen Sanford b. 1836.

DIED -- SANFORD, Ahira -- At the Marion county poor farm, near Salem, Tuesday, August 14, 1888, Ahira Sanford, formerly of Stayton, aged 80 years.
