FREDA DEAN

Homemaker and former teacher Freda Ann Fulmer Dean, age 87, of 1130 17th Avenue South, died Sunday at a local nursing home after a long illness.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 1987, at the First Baptist Church in Valier, Montana, with the Reverend Jerry Doherty officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery.

She was born in Ontario, Wisconsin, and spent her youth there. She graduated from the Ontario High School and Lacrosse State Normal College.

Freda taught school a year in Wisconsin and then moved to Valier, Montana, to join her parents. She taught in Valier-area schools for four years.

In 1921, she married Dorwell Dean of Valier. He died in 1987, and that year she moved to Great Falls, Montana.

She was active in community affairs until 1962 when she was seriously injured in a car wreck. She had been a 4-H leader, was past president of Rebecca Lodge and District 8 American Auxiliary, and was instrumental in getting the P.T.A. organized in Valier.

She was preceded in death by 3 bothers; Lester, Cecil and Merle Fulmer.

Survivors include sons Richard and Wayne, both of Great Falls, Montana; Raymond of Terreton, Idaho; and Donald and Dale, both of Bigfork, Montana; 14 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

O'Connor Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Pallbearers were Robin Dean, Regan Dean, David Dean, Wayne Dean, Dana Dean, Jim VandenBos and Dennis Sullivan.
