Emma Louisa Stephens, daughter of James and Harreitt Morehead, was born September 9, 1857, and died April 12, 1922, aged 64 years and six months. She was united in marriage to George W. Stephens May 19, 1881 in Wirt County, WV, and to this union where born four children-Charles, Della and Albert, all of whom have preceded their mother to the home above, and Ronna, the only surviving member of the family, the father having died twelve years ago. Sister Stephens was converted and joined the M.P. Church in 1880, and for 42 years was a faithful and consistent Christian. She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, two grandsons, Melvin and Forrest Brown, and two brothers, Charles and William Morehead, and a host of friends. But they are comforted with the assurance that their loss is her eternal gain. She bore her long illness and suffering with patience and Christian fortitude. Funeral services were conducted by a former pastor, L.W. Loudin, assisted by the writer. After an appropriate address by Brother Loudin her mortal remains were laid to rest in the Limestone Cemetery to await resurrection morn. The writer extends his sympathy to the bereaved.
