son of Ira Allen & Sarah (Taylor) Hooker

According to the book "A Man is a Man" by M. Overholser on the Hooker Family he was murdered over a stolen watch by a man named Return W. Everman who stole the watch from the home of Cyrenus's brother where Cyrenus was living and farming at the time. He was shot from ambush as he plowed his fields. He was not found until the next day. A posse hunted down and arrested Everman who was hung from the "hanging tree" in Rickreall, Polk County, Oregon on May 11, 1852.
