Thelma L. Partain Nichols was born June 22, 1922 in Elbert County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Alexander Reese Partain and Lucille Ward Partain. She had five brother and Elmer R. Partain was her twin brother. She was a member of Rock Branch Baptist Church in Elbert County, GA, and a member of the Greenwood Wesleyan Methodist Church. She married Albert Thurman Nichols about 1946 and they had three sons, Gary, Craig, and Dwaine Nichols.
