Mr. Michael Kelly Fields, 40, of Rincon and formerly of Dalton, departed this life Thursday morning, Feb. 14, 2008, at the Doctors Hospital in Augusta from injuries sustained at the Imperial Sugar Refinery explosion in Port Wentworth.
Kelly was born Nov. 22, 1967 in Dalton. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Burt and Marie Griffin and Robb and Hattie Mae Holsomback. He was a 1986 graduate of Northwest Whitfield High School. He was employed by Kerby Enterprises of Savannah.He is survived by his wife, Betty (McAmis) Fields of the home; daughters, Molly Fergerson and Madison Fergerson, both of Rincon and Ashley Feild and her fiance, Kevin Chitwood of Dalton; mother, Sarah Fields of Dalton; father and stepmother, Don and Lori Fields of Calhoun;
sister and brother-in-law, Traci and Glenn Burnsed and their daughters, Ashlyn and Peyton Burnsed, all of Savannah; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Casey Fields and their daughter, Alli Fields, all of Rincon; sister and her fiancé, Candas Fields and Bobby Yocum of Roswell; grandparents, Tom and Bill Long of Dalton and James and Robbie Fields of Calhoun; aunt, Debbie Headrick; uncle, Lamar Long; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and John Adamson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara ‘Bobbie Jean' and Tom Hemrich, all of Dalton.

Services to celebrate the life of Kelly Fields are Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton with the Rev. Mickey Shealy and Elder Glenn Burnsed officiating.He will be laid to rest at the Tunnel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Malone, Sean Vaughn, Shawn Medlin, Jimmy Kerby, David Armstrong and Mike Vaughn.The family will receive friends at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home today after 5 p.m.
