Annette Abel Cromartie, 86, of Albany, Georgia, passed away on December 9th after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Annette was born on October 26, 1936, to McHatton and Lila Doster Abel. She was born in Millen, Georgia, but moved to Albany at two months of age. A lifelong Georgia resident, Annette graduated from Albany High School in 1955. She continued on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in Education. While at UGA, she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. After graduation, she taught school in Macon, Dekalb County, and Albany.
Annette's life revolved around her family, particularly her grandchildren.
n addition to raising her family, Annette enjoyed spending time cooking, gardening and reading. She was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, as well as the Palmyra Heights Garden Club and the Albany Junior League. She generously volunteered her time and talents, doing such things as floral arrangements at the church, and working with children's programs at both Covenant and Porterfield UMC. Annette could always brighten up someone's day by baking and sharing her fabulous pecan pies for anyone who is celebrating a special occasion. She was also a generous donor to many charitable organizations.
Services will be held at Leesburg Cemetery on December 12th at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2126 Edgewater Drive, Albany, Georgia, 31707.
