Husband of Jane McWhorter (1786-1842), married in 1808. Son of John J. Brents Sr. and Elizabeth Deal. He was in the War of 1812 and was with Gen. Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans. (Goodspeed History of Central Ark. p. 245). He and his brother (Solomon) remained together until about 1815, moving to Maury Co., Rutherford Co. and then Lincoln Co. where Thomas was appointed Road overseer of in 1815 (County Court Min. 1815 P.240). Marshall Co. was formed out of Lincoln Co. in 1836. Another brother was Joshua Brents (# 24512353).
