Harry was the son of Thomas and Louise Elcome (nee Meynell). Sadly Harry, his mother Louise, sister Dorothy Smith (nee Elcome), her husband Albert John Smith and daughter Ann Carole Smith, all perished as a result of an enemy air attack at their home in Dennington Park Mansions, West End Lane, NW3.
They were all laid to rest at HAMPSTEAD CEMETERY on the 25th February 1944 in adjoining graves in the Special Plot, which was created for civilian casualties although Harry and Albert were both serving soldiers. As of 2020 they have both been commemorated on the Screen Wall.
Harry served his country in WW2 as Warrant Officer Class 11 6197661 2nd. Bn. Middlesex Regiment and at the time of his passing Harry was 36 years of age.
