George Wilcox was a highly respected citizen in Carson City. He was a Civil War Veteran, Reg. 31, Massachusetts Inf. Company D, enlisted 30 Mar 1864 and discharged 9 Sept. 1865. At one time he was one of the most famous rifle shots in the United States.

George was born in Whitingham, VT. His parents were Sarah Parsons and Andrew Wilcox and he is also a Mayflower descendant. He was married to Ella Hanchett and had the following children: Cora Wilcox Clark (married to A.W. Clark), Clarence Wilcox, Sylvia Wilcox Burndies, Rueben and Henrietta Wilcox.

Also buried in Lone Mountain Cemetery are his wife Ella, his son Rueben, his brothers Zachary Taylor Wilcox, Andrew A. Wilcox and Andrew's 2nd wife Ruth Wilcox and his niece Hattie Wilcox Riehl. His daughter Cora Clark is buried at the State Hospital in Sparks, Nevada (Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Cemetery).
