Mrs. Lucy Dempsey Rapier, 94 yrs old, 15 Washington street, Van Buren, died Thursday evening in a Ft. Smith nursing home. She was born at Huntington on Jan. 9, 1882 to Matthew & Sarah Duncan Glidewell & had been a resident of Van Buren for more than 50 yrs. She was a member of the First Assembly of God church & the wife of J. L. Rapier who died in 1936.

Survivors are two sons, Paul Dempsey & Kenneth Dempsey of Van Buren; 3 step-sons, Lloyd (Bill) Rapier & Val Rapier of Van Buren & Dewey Rapier of Langley, OK; two daughters, Mrs. Mozell Brisco of Ft. smith & Mrs. Ruth Thompson of Dennison, TX; a step-daughter, Mrs. Tressie Miller of Van Buren; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren & 3 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in Ocker Memorial chapel. Don Smothers was the officiating minister. Burial was in Gracelawn cemetery. Grandsons serving as casket bearers were Robert Brisco, Kenneth Brisco, David Brisco, Raymond Brisco, Eddie Dempsey & Jim Dempsey. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Perkins, Raymond Allen, Grady Putman, Lawrence Putman, Johnny Jeryo, Biles Sullivan & Ralph Putman.
