On March 16, 1901, Dick Brookhart married Lucy Basilda (Lehman), daughter of Daniel and Rebecca (Layland) Lehman, the granddaughter of Benjamin and Margaret (Parker) Layland, and the great granddaughter of David and Rebecca (___) Parker. He was 1 of 8 children of Samuel and Mary (Sinift) Brookhart--Gilbert, Mary Rosa (Mrs Orlando Shel Harden) Iva Z (Mrs William Brush), Margaret Melinda (Mrs Perry F D Layland), Uttica (Mrs Tom Earley), Lydia E (Mrs Christorpher Grim), Daniel W, and Adam Sherman "Dick". Dick Brookhart was a grandson of Adam and Margaret (Beagler) Sinift. They had 4 children--Emma Zorina, Ushel Garnet, Minnie Margaret & Bonnie Bernice. His death & his wife's death from the influenza epidemic in January, 1916, left the 4 daughters as orphans. They were placed in 4 foster homes.
