Sylvester was a recipient of a purple heart for his WWII Army scout duties in the Philippines and New Guinea combat battles. It was easy to remember his birthday since it was on December 7th 1923 – Pearl Harbor Day. A fall 2011 trip as an Honor Flight participant was enjoyed with his son. Sylvester cherished traveling most of the US states with family members and abroad with his wife. Past hobbies include tennis, water skiing, and square dancing. He enjoyed Wisconsin Sports teams, weekly Gin Rummy games with his family, and dining at the many restaurants in the Milwaukee area. He was enthusiastic about life and enjoyed being there for his family.
