Summary of the "case" for (i.e., evidences that) Betsey Brown Chase was not buried at Forestvale Cemetery, but rather was buried at Main Street Cemetery ("MSC").
• The case for MSC is by "process of elimination":
— (1) Betsey's death was too early for (at least initial) burial at Forestvale Cemetery.
— (1.A) Forestvale did not exist as a Cemetery in when Betsey died. (See the 17 Nov 2022 comments below, from a local resident and subject matter expert.)
— (1.B) Earlier Find-a-Grave memorials at Forestvale Cemetery have been investigated and judged not to indicate Forestvale operated before it opened at a later date. (See the 3 Dec 2022 [1st message] comments below.)
— (2) A record indicates Betsey was buried in Hudson [where Forestvale and Main Street Cemeteries are the only "mainstream" cemeteries]. (See the 3 Dec 2022 [2nd message] comments below, 2nd paragraph.)
— (3) Forestvale Cemetery records are mostly complete, thus mostly reliable, and do not include Betsey's [later removal and re-interment] burial. (See the 3 Dec 2022 [2nd message] comments below, 3rd paragraph.)

On 17 Nov 2022:
— I feel extremely confident that Betsey Chase is not buried at Forestvale. Forestvale is the newest cemetery in Hudson, and did not exist in 1870 when Bestey died. Based on the date, she would much more likely have been buried at Main Street Cemetery in Hudson, or one of the several in Marlborough.

— You previously asked about Forestvale's age, and pointed out that there was a smattering of early burials from the 1870's on Findagrave. I looked into that further, and found that about 80% of those are cenotaphs where the body is buried elsewhere. It seems most of them were children who died prior to Forestvale's creation, and their names were included with the rest of their families on the big monument. In some cases people may have been moved to Forestvale at later dates to be located beside family members, but lots were not yet being sold at that time, and the physical burial would have had to (at least originally) taken place at Main Street Cemetery. [Betsey] could have been moved to Forestvale down the line, but I can't find any record to support that.

— Marlborough's cemetery records prior to about 1950 are pretty much nonexistent. The city has nothing aside from [recorded grave marker inscriptions] that was done by a school group about 30 years ago ... I did check that for both Betsey and Mary, and did not see stones for either of them ...
— I do see records that both Betsey and Mary were buried IN Hudson, which would mean Betsey was (at least originally) buried at Main Street Cemetery, and Mary could have been buried at Either Main Street or Forestvale.
— Frankly, it is rare that someone would be missing from the Forestvale records as they are fairly thorough, even as early as 1903. Main Street Cemetery on the other hand has few records aside from the stones themselves. Most of what the town has for Main Street Cemetery comes from surveys that have been done over the years — so if their graves were unmarked, it is entirely possible that there would be no location card for them in the main street cemetery records.
— I will email you a section map of Main Street Cemetery [now available on Warren Grant Greenleaf's memorial] -- take a look for Lot #102 East -- that is where Mary's son Warren Greenleaf is buried, and it is a sizeable plot. His name is the only one there, but The plot would have to have been purchased in the 19th century sometime because his 1922 grave stands out as being "new" in one of the older sections of that cemetery.

On 6 Dec 2022:
"I absolutely agree with your theories about [grandson] Warren's plot being where they are all at [i.e., Calvin Greenleaf, his wife Mary Brown Chase Greenleaf, and her mother Betsey Brown Chase]. It is definitely a newer marker - almost like they replaced whatever older markers were there when he died, and never got around to inscribing the other names.
— There is no record of who is there aside from [Warren Grant Greenleaf], but I can tell you that it is a 6 person lot.
