Arthur "Art" William Amidon, a beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at his home at the age of 71.
Art was born October 1, 1951, in Traverse City, Michigan, the firstborn son of Darrel & Esther (Chapman) Amidon.
After graduation from Kalkaska High School, Art worked at the Traverse City State Hospital, owned his own sign painting business, worked in construction many years, and designed & created custom kitchens & closet systems. Besides his carpentry skills, Art was also known for his sense of humor, his musical talent, his barbershop harmony, his artistic abilities, and his limerick recitation.
In 1996 Art met Susan Farmer Phillips and married her in May 1999.
He is survived by his wife Susan Amidon; daughter Andrea (Curt) Bedrick; grandchildren Cameron and Haleigh Bedrick; stepchildren Nikki (Bruce) Phillips, and Ricky (Candy) Phillips; he is also survived by his many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; sisters Karen Amidon & Kathy (Paul) Mallory, and brother James; and many nieces & nephews.
Art was preceded in passing by his parents, brothers Mark and Charles Amidon and a nephew Robert Benton.
Memorial donations will be donated to AC Paws in Art's name, please forward all donations to Andrea Bedrick, 106 S. Cherry Str., Kalkaska, MI 49646.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in the spring at Clearwater Township Cemetery.
