Donald Elmore Wheat, 94 of Fairfield, passed away at 5:25 AM, Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Born on January 25, 1928, in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of James and Ina Flossie (McCormick) Wheat. He married Bettie Claire Shackleford on April 22, 1950, at the home H.A. (Hub) Shelton.

Donald was a member of the Elm River CP (Brown) Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Elder, and Superintendent. He was employed as a tree trimmer for Wayne-White Electric from 1947-1999 and enjoyed farming, logging, and bird hunting.

Donald is survived by four children; eleven grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters- Lois Atteberry, Lola Hammil, Peggy Farmer, and Jewell Merrick.

Donald will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at the Elm River (Brown) CP Church near Mt. Erie at 11AM on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Burial of cremains will be in Brown cemetery where family tombstone is set.

The Johnson and Vaughn funeral home is handling the cremation.
