Katie was the youngest of Elder Burney Sawyer's 17 children. Her mother was Annie Beulah Floyd. She grew up in Frisco City and attended Peabody, Troy, Auburn and Montevalla Colleges. She was a "straight A" Student. She graduated from Troy with a BS in Elementary Education in 1944 and taught in schools in AL and FL for 34 years.
On July 3, 1947, she married Carl Patrick Driscoll. They had no children.
She had a wonderful laugh and sense of humor. She loved children and teaching 3rd grade the most.
