HARDIN --Minnie Landon, 98, a 75-year resident of Big Horn County, died Wednesday, Oct 7, 1992, in the Heritage Acres Nursing Home. She was born April 28, 1894, in Lawler, Iowa, a daughter of Jacob and Amelia Beier Kilcher. She grew up and attended schools in Lawler. In 1910, she moved to Roundup. Minnie married Oscar J. "Ole" Landon on Aug. 5, 1913, in Lawler and the couple made their home in Roundup until moving to a homestead in the Sarpy area in September of 1917. The family remained on the homestead until 1938, when they were forced leave due to drought, grasshoppers and Mormon Crickets. The Landon family moved into Hardin, where Mr. Landon was employed by the Sheridan Flouring Mills. In 1942, Mr. Landon was transferred to Lodge Grass. After Mr. Landon's retirement in 1968, the couple returned to Hardin. Mr.

Landon died in 1969. Mrs. Landon was known for her ability to grow African violets. She made numerous quilts during her lifetime and continued to crochet afghans until the age of 98. Minnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hardin, the Hardin Senior Citizens and the Big Horn County Historical Society.

Survivors include six daughters, Marcella Eastman, Lois Landon, Flora Clark and Donna Esp all of Hardin, Lucile Love of Billings and Joyce Hager of Sheridan, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Thomas Hastings and Rev. Hugh Huntley officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery with Bullis Mortuary of Hardin entrusted with the arrangements..
