Mrs. Strong was born May 20, 1908, in St. Joseph. Agnes was graduated from Lafayette High School and was a past matron of Areme chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She had worked for the St. Joseph School District for several years.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband and 'soul mate', Francis E. Strong; parents, Frederick and Wilhemina (Gamper) Wachter; brothers, Henry and Albert; sister, Sophia (Henry) Freed; grandsons, Shane Strong and David Strong; and great-grandson, Kirk Scrivener.
Agnes is survived by her three children, Francis L. (Gloria) Strong of Wichita, Kan., Jerry A. (Carol) Strong, of St. Joseph; and Mary E. Owens of Kansas City, Mo. Agnes also had 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Love of her family was the joy of her life. She will be deeply missed by all.
Services 11 a.m. Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Interment in Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday." St Joseph News-Press, December 10, 2008
