Charles R. Catlin, 87, of Andover Township, N.J., passed away on Dec. 24, 2013. Friends may call on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, N.J. 07871. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Restland Memorial Park, 77 Deforest Ave., East Hanover, N.J. Charles was born in Maplewood, N.J., and lived in Andover for 12 years. He was a 1944 graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood, served in the Merchant Marine during World War II, and graduated from New York University with a bachelor's degree in business. He began his career as an adjuster at Kemper Insurance in Summit, N.J., before forming a partnership in Dover, N.J., as a licensed insurance and real estate broker at Kohler and Catlin. Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Hiler and her husband Robert, of Sparta, N.J., and Karen Coleman and her husband, Steven, of Victor, N.Y. He is also survived by his grandson, Sean Coleman, and his beloved dachshunds, Oscar and Nathan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Charitable Foundation, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, N.J. 07860.
