Mrs. RH Lucksinger nee Evelyn Grosenbacher of Fredericksburg passed away peacefully on Sunday November 27th at the age of 96 years.

Evelyn Marie Grosenbacher was born on August 7, 1926 in the Crabapple community to Ernst Sr. and Ella (Kast) Grosenbacher. She had one sister and four brothers. Evelyn was the second child and oldest daughter. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran in Crabapple. Evelyn was raised in the Crabapple community and attended the Crabapple School through seventh grade. She worked on the farm and later at the sewing factory in Fredericksburg during World War II.

On December 7, 1941 she met the love of her life at a family gathering in Round Mountain. This was Royston Hudson Lucksinger. He was known as Hudson (Hut) to family and friends. During the three years that Hut was overseas in the military, they corresponded. When he returned, they were married on July 14, 1946 in Fredericksburg, Texas. Evelyn and Hut moved to Fairland (Burnet County) for a year living on the Lucksinger family ranch. That same year Hut was hired by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). They then moved to Buchanan Dam were Evelyn and Hut ("Lucky" to his co-workers) raised their four children and lived for the next 40 years.

For the first 20 years of their marriage, Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was very active in her children's lives volunteering as Room Mother at school, chaperoning on fieldtrips for school and Sunday school outings, serving as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and volunteering at church. She and her husband help hold local, state, and national elections in their community. As her children got older, she worked outside the home at various jobs-- store clerk, sewing factory worker, and later as housekeeper for the LCRA's Administration Building used for special events and district meetings. These duties never kept her from being there for her husband and children. They always came first in her life. Evelyn and her children were members of St. James Lutheran Church in Llano during her years at Lake Buchanan.

In 1986 Evelyn and Hut both retired from the LCRA and moved to Fredericksburg. Evelyn was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church since 1986 which has been an important part of her life. She always maintained close ties with family and friends and church members living here and in surrounding towns.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ernst Henry Grosenbacher, Sr., and Ella Kast Grosenbacher; her husband R. H. (Hudson) Lucksinger; her daughter Shirely Lucksinger Valfre; her sister Opal Grosenbacher Thorp; and brothers Lester, Orval, Ernst, Jr., and Marvin Grosenbacher.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter - Linda N. Lucksinger and her husband Dan A. Jenkins of Fredericksburg, her son Royston Hudson (Roy) Lucksinger II, his wife Pazzie of Canton, Georgia, and her son Robert Henry Lucksinger and his wife Sherry of Lake Buchanan. She is survived by 7 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Irene Grosenbacher of Fredericksburg and Carolyn Grosenbacher of Boerne, along with numerous nieces and nephews from both the Grosenbacher side and from the Lucksinger side of the family. Evelyn has a large extended family that has been a joy and blessing to her all her life. She loved having her nieces and nephews visit and enjoyed going to all kinds of family events to celebrate with them.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fredericksburg Fire & EMS, the local Animal Shelters, or charity of choice.

Funeral Services for Evelyn Lucksinger will be held on Friday December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home of Fredericksburg with Rev. David Priem officiating.

Graveside Services and Interment will follow in Der Stadt Friedhof Cemetery, Fredericksburg.

Visitation for Evelyn will be held on Thursday December 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home.
