Hattie Rose Tompkins, 72, of Oneida, passed away August 3, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville.
Born January 15, 1932, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lindsay and Gussie Robbins Phillips; her husband, Hobert Tompkins; children: Wanda Gail, Paul Edward, and Wilma Jean; two brothers, Hubert and Herman; and three sisters: Betty, Helen, and Kathleen.
She professed her hope in Christ in 1997.
She is survived by nine children: Brenda Voiles, Lena Rose Tompkins, and Verline Cooper and husband, Arnold, all of Oneida, Loretta Duncan of the Mill Branch community, Kathy Bowling of the Low Gap community, Dennis Reed and wife, Liz, of Elk Valley, Hobert Tompkins of Huntsville, Robert Tompkins of Wartburg, and Hollis Tompkins of the Brimstone community; 26 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one step great-great grandchild, two brothers, L.B. Phillips and George Phillips, both of Indiana; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted August 7, at Mill Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Carlie Duncan officiating. Interment followed in Mill Branch Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
