Obituary is from the Vincent Funeral Home (West Point, Va.) website, posted November 23, 2022:
Horst Friedrich Arfert, of Midlothian, VA, died peacefully in the arms of Jesus on November 13, 2022, after a period of declining health.
He was born on June 13, 1941, to the late Fritz C. and Elli A. Arfert, of Hamburg, Germany. He leaves behind his son Mark Arfert, daughter-in-law Burce Arfert, and grandson Arda Arfert, all of Detroit, Michigan; and many friends.
Horst was a faithful member of the Brandermill Church and was formerly very active at the Brandermill Church Men's Club as the breakfast cook, in the bible study group and the Lions Club.
He expanded his hobby of "photo taking" as" Joe Photo" as Gloria liked to call him, into professional photography at art galleries and exhibition. He retired from Reynold Metals, after many years of service.
A graveside service will be held at 10 AM Friday, December 2nd at Brett Reed Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 29680 King William Rd., West Point, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Horst's memory be made to the Brandermill Church, (address below).
A memorial service will be held the same day, at 2pm, at Brandermill Church, 4500 Millridge Parkway, Midlothian, VA 23112, with a reception immediately following.
