Bryan Bland Smith, 78, of Columbia, died January 12, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Bryan was born in Dare County on May 18, 1943, to the late Emmett Eugene and Thelma Spruill Smith. He was married to Marsha Brickhouse Smith who survives.
He attended Columbia Missionary Baptist Church. Bryan worked as a brick mason for over forty years with Smith Masonry and Hudson Masonry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog Duke. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the "apple of his eye." He loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed bowling. East Lake was dear to his heart.
Throughout his illness, Bryan has been a hero. Bryan will be greatly missed because he was greatly loved.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Columbia Missionary Baptist Church. Prudencio Casas, Rev. Vickie Woolard, and Rhonda Rhodes will officiate. Burial will follow at Soundside Missionary Baptist Church cemetery, Columbia.
Surviving is a daughter, Meredith Smith of Columbia; two grandchildren, Cyera Rawlins of Elizabeth City and Dalton S. Stevenson of Columbia; six great-grandchildren; a son of the heart Eddie Guy of Angier, and six grandchildren of our heart; two brothers, Eugene Smith of Chesapeake, VA and Emmett Eugene Smith, Jr. of Mann's Harbor, NC.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gilda Smith.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
